Bologna Apennines, Corno alle Scale
Bologna Apennines, Corno alle Scale
A high level district for Apennine standards; it extends in a fan shape covering the north western slopes of the mountain. An amphitheatre of 36 Km of slopes, 80% of which with artificial snow systems.
You can ski here 150 days a year. The resort of Corno alle Scale is located on the ridges of the Bologna Apennines halfway between Bologna and Florence; it has been classified as pre-park area inside a regional natural park.
The particular runs of this resort have hosted international competitions and here Alberto Tomba reached his top form and went on to win gold world championship medals.
Snowboarding is becoming increasingly popular on the slopes; the resort also offers off-piste skiing and the opportunity to be in contact with the striking nature of this environment thanks to the cross-country skiing trails that reach the heart of the Natural Park. The resort has a ski school that can satisfy requirements at all levels; there are also modern equipment hire services as well as restaurants for enjoyable and relaxing moments.
A practical shuttle service connects the slopes to the railways station in Porretta Terme and offers a daily connection with the villages and district of Corno alle Scale, where restaurants, pubs, discos and other après-ski venues provide evening entertainment.
Accommodation in the area is guaranteed by a number of hotels offering all facilities and a friendly and professional service.
Corno alle Scale features wider and safer runs.
New, wider and safer runs, but above all more technical runs; particular attention is paid to safety, a very important aspect considering the not-always-smooth coexistence on the slopes of skiers and snowboarders.
There is also the Slalom Stadium, an enormous run about one hundred meters wide and over one kilometre long, which starts under Lake Scaffaiolo and goes down to the Ski School Slope. Many new attractions, some already operational while others at the planning stage, as well as many current amenities such as the snow-park and the baby-park for children which was a great success last year.
