Canoeing and kayaking in the upper Enza valley
A RIVER OF EMOTIONS AND FUN
Since 1965, the Enza River has hosted a competition at the beginning of April that attracts many athletes from all over Europe and the World: International Kayak Enza. International Kayak Enza is traditionally divided into two competitions: on Saturday a short distance sprint race (500 m) with two rounds and on Sunday the “classic” 4 km race from Lido di Vetto to the Frantoio della Cantoniera. This course is a 3rd-upper 3rd difficulty level course. Both competitions are classified by FICK (Italian Canoe and Kayak Federation) as type “C” international competitions and this event is a must for world top athletes for different reasons: tradition (the Enza competition is the oldest one in Europe and probably in the world), the course (the Enza River features a number of very technical yet never dangerous sections), the date (it is the first important event of the canoeing season) and the organisation (according to the athletes it is impeccable).
